Orlando Brown Jr. is set to make his return.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ playoff hopes all hinge on the team defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers at home on Sunday. A win could set them on the path to a wildcard berth, while a loss would likely kill them.
Coming into the game, the offense received some good injury news, but the defense received some potentially concerning updates.
Left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. is set to make his return to the starting lineup for the first time since a leg injury suffered in mid-October, Zac Taylor announced Friday. Brown is officially questionable but is expected to play. This means Joe Burrow won’t have to worry about his blind side like he might if Cody Ford were starting at left tackle.
On the other side of the ball, Zac Taylor said that defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins will miss his second consecutive game with a viral infection, and linebacker Logan Wilson is questionable with a knee that is “pretty sore.”
Rankins missing the Steelers game may not be a huge deal for Lou Anarumo’s defense, as he’s struggled to impact the field this season. Wilson is a different story, though, and we could be in store for a big game for Akeem Davis-Gaither.
Charlie Jones is doubtful to play. Everyone else is good to go.
For the Steelers, standout pass-rusher Alex Highsmith is doubtful, while backups Cory Trice Jr. and Motravis Adams are out.
