And Gabe Murphy is now on the roster, too
The Minnesota Vikings got some bad news on the injury front today, as one of their more dynamic young defensive players is going to miss some time. The team has, however, signed someone with a little bit of intrigue to replace him.
The team has announced that linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. is being placed in injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Pace left this past Sunday’s victory over the Chicago Bears early on in the game after suffering the injury, and now he will have to miss at least the next four games. If the Vikings do designate him to return at some point, the earliest he would be able to do so is the Week 17 contest against Green Bay at U.S. Bank Stadium.
To take his place on the roster, the Vikings have signed linebacker Jamin Davis. Davis was the first-round pick of the (then) Washington Football Team in the 2021 NFL Draft after a successful career at Kentucky, with Washington selecting him at #19 overall. He started eight games as a rookie and between the 2022 and 2023 seasons started 28 of the 29 games he appeared in. He played in just five games for Washington this season and was released in late October.
Davis then signed with the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad, which is where he was when Minnesota signed him. The Packers did not elevate him from the practice squad since they brought him aboard. Because he was signed from another team’s practice squad, Davis will need to be on the roster for at least three games.
The Vikings also announced that they have officially activated edge defender Gabriel Murphy from injured reserve. They had until tomorrow to make that decision after opening his 21-day window on 6 November, and now the much-heralded undrafted free agent from UCLA is officially on the Minnesota roster.
Those are all the moves that the Vikings made today, folks. We’ll start seeing practice reports for Week 13 tomorrow, and once we get those we will bring them to you here.
