Multiple news items to discuss.

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced five roster moves on Tuesday evening. An overview:

  • DE Brandon Graham was placed on injured reserve.
  • DE Charles Harris was claimed off waivers from the Carolina Panthers.
  • DE KJ Henry was signed to the practice squad.
  • DT Siaki Ika and WR Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint were released from the practice squad.

Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.

BRANDON GRAHAM

As we all know, Graham suffered a season-ending triceps injury during the Eagles’ win against the Los Angeles Rams.

Given that Graham previously said he plans on retiring after 2024, it’s possible he’s played his last NFL snap. Then again, Graham hasn’t totally closed the door on changing his mind. We’ll see.

For now, Graham is expected to remain around the team and bring good vibes and energy as much as he possibly can in an off-field role.

The Eagles will miss Graham’s on-field contributions; he was playing at a really high level this season. Their pass rush rotation is significantly worse off without him.

CHARLES HARRIS

Graham to IR opened up a roster spot for the Harris addition.

We wrote about the Eagles claiming Harris off waivers earlier on Tuesday.

While his numbers this season aren’t super encouraging, it’s possible he’ll benefit from playing in Philly as opposed to Carolina. Not only because there’s more juice to play for a winning team but also because of the supporting cast on defense.

At the very least, Harris is a credible rotational edge rusher that’s worth taking a look at. If he’s bad/ineffective, they can try other options.

KJ HENRY

Henry signing to the practice squad was first reported on Monday evening. There’s some reason to believe he has potential but it’s not encouraging that multiple teams have cut him.

Henry could be a candidate to be temporarily elevated from the practice squad. If he’s not used in that capacity, he’ll serve as extra edge rusher depth if/when the Eagles need him.

SIAKI IKA

Ika, a depth nose tackle, has bounced on and off the practice squad. He might return again before the season is over.

MARCUS ROSEMY-JACKSAINT

The Eagles originally signed MRJ to their practice squad back in late August.

Not sure why they decided to move on now but it’s worth noting that the Eagles have an open practice squad spot now after cutting two players (Ika, MRJ) and only signing one (Henry).
