What would you do?
Imagine if you had the ability to go back in time and warn yourself about future events. Think of the heartbreak you could save yourself. You could avoid bad relationships and poor investments, skip bad movies, and always root for the winning team.
I’m in my 40s now, and I could say that I’ve been a Cincinnati Bengals fan for over 30 years or so and a die-hard fan for over 20. That’s a long time to hope for a Super Bowl win, and I know there are many of you who have been hoping for a whole hell of a lot longer than that.
If a portal opened up, allowing me the chance to talk to my younger self, the only thing I think I’d tell that boy is not to let the team stress me out too much. I’m a hand wringer, and I truly believe the stress of being a Bengals fan will take years off my life in the end. That’s the only thing I’d say, though.
Imagine if a portal opened up right in front of you that would take you back to the first moment you became a Cincinnati Bengals fan. Would you walk through it and convince your former self to pick a different team? Would you tell yourself to temper your expectations? Maybe you would just make the suggestion of not investing so much of yourself into the team, or maybe you wouldn’t take advantage of the situation at all.
