The Detroit Lions have declared their inactives ahead of their Week 12 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Detroit Lions (9-1) have declared their inactives ahead of the Week 12 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts (5-6).

Due to injuries this week, the Lions have needed to do some shuffling in their linebacker and cornerback rooms. Linebacker Alex Anzalone and corner Ennis Rakestraw have landed on injured reserve, while corner Terrion Arnold will miss this game with a groin injury. As a result, the Lions have elevated linebacker David Long from the practice squad and activated corner Emmanuel Moseley from injured reserve, and placed him on the 53-man roster. Additionally, the Lions have also activated nose tackle Brodric Martin from injured reserve (though he is inactive), bringing their game day roster total up to 54 players.

One interesting note amongst this week’s inactives is that rookie guard Christian Mahogany is active, while veteran Kayode Awosika will not play. It’s unclear if this is injury related, if Mahogany jumped him on the depth chart, or if it’s simply a way to get the rookie even more experience.

“Since he’s come off of IR, you’ve seen Christian grow immensely,” Lions offensive coordinator Ben johnson said earlier this week. “I really wish we, as a staff really wish, he would have been available there in the preseason because those would’ve been huge games to really get a gauge for where he’s at right now, and it’s a little bit harder in practice. Sometimes we have pads on, sometimes we don’t. But, from the one-on-one aspect, the pass-pro and run blocking, you see flashes of immense potential right there. So, we’ll continue to try to find where we can slip him in to get him more experience, but he’s a guy that we have high hopes for.”

For this week’s game, because the Lions have eight offensive linemen active for Sunday’s game, they are eligible to expand their game-day roster from 47 to 48 players. Therefore, with 54 players on the game-day roster and 48 eligible to play, the Lions need to declare just six players inactive for today’s matchup.

Lions inactives:

  • CB Terrion Arnold (groin) — Ruled OUT on Saturday
  • OG Kayode Awosika
  • RT Colby Sorsdal
  • LT Giovanni Manu
  • DT Brodric Martin
  • DE Al-Quadin Muhammad

Colts inactives:

  • LT Bernhard Raimann (knee) — Ruled OUT on Friday
  • QB Sam Ehlinger
  • WR Anthony Gould
  • TE Will Mallory
  • DE Isaiah Land
  • S Darren Hall
