Should the Eagles sign him?!
March 7, 2023: The New York Giants signed Daniel Jones to a four-year contract worth $160 million.
November 22, 2024: The New York Giants waived Daniel Jones.
Whoops!
The Jones era effectively ended earlier this week with the Giants going into tank mode and benching him to prevent his injury guarantee for 2025 kicking in. But now it’s super duper officially over.
It’ll be interesting to see where Jones lands next. He’s subject to waivers but no team is going to claim his remaining contract.
Given their self-proclamation as The Quarterback Factory, we have to ask: will the Philadelphia Eagles have interest? The Birds do notably employ Jones’ good friend Saquon Barkley.
The Eagles already have three quarterbacks on their roster. I don’t suspect they’re going to displace Kenny Pickett, who’s been the backup all season despite failing to impress in training camp/preseason/garbage time opportunities. And giving up on Tanner McKee would be silly.
Could the practice squad be an option? The Eagles previously carried a fourth quarterback there before cutting Will Grier earlier this month.
Of course, Jones will likely be able to find a better path to playing time elsewhere than he will in Philly. It’d be pretty funny if the Dallas Cowboys signed him. Daniel Jones revenge game on Thanksgiving?! The Tennessee Titans or Las Vegas Raiders might be more realistic landing spots.
