Will CJ Stroud and the Texans beat the Cowboys on Monday Night?
On paper coming into the season, a matchup against the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans looked to be a fun one. Now, with the Cowboys struggling and Cooper Rush at quarterback, the outlook of this game has shifted. At the same time, the Texans haven’t been the juggernaut of a team that many expected as well.
The Texans come into this game having blown a big lead to the Detroit Lions last week. Jared Goff threw five interceptions in that game, but CJ Stroud had a few loose throws of his own that ended up being costly. Still, the Texans have a firm grasp atop the AFC South. The hope will be that they can find some sort of spark in the season’s second half.
Coming into the ‘year’ the Cowboys were all-in without actually ever being all-in. They didn’t spend money in free agency and their head coach is on the final year of his contract. The defense hasn’t been as good as it has been following Dan Quinn’s departure and now Dak Prescott is hurt. It wouldn’t be the Cowboys without drama and they’ve had a lot of drama this season.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Texans are 7.5-point favorites against the Cowboys. Rush threw 23 times for 45 yards last week and the Texans defense won’t be much easier. While this game is in Dallas, the Texans should win and they should win big. I’ll take the Texans in this one to cover on the road.
The Pick: Texans (-7.5)
Season Record: 14-19
