Vikes Views: Who Ya Got? Vikings at Titans

Vikes Views: Who Ya Got? Vikings at Titans

The Minnesota Vikings travel to the Tennessee Titans for their Week 11 Matchup.

Head-to-Head Record – 9-5

Vikings Away Record vs the Titans/Oilers – 2-3

Streak – L1

Most Points Scored – 51, Oct 13, 1974

Widest Margin of Victory – 41, 51-10, Oct 13, 1974

Most Recent Matchup – Titans 31 – Vikings 30, Sep 27, 2020

My 2024 Prediction Record: 6-3

2024 Vikes Views Poll Record: 7-2

The last time they played: The Titans kicked 6 Field Goals and Derick Henry added two TDs and the Vikings blew an 8 point halftime lead. Justin Jefferson did have a 71 yard TD from Kirk Cousins. Dalvin Cook added 181 yards on the ground, but two interceptions aided in the Titans comeback victory.

Interesting Tidbits from the Vikings Weekly Release:

  • Minnesota’s victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9 marked the Vikings 283rd win as the home team all-time since the 1970 NFL merger, which is tied with Denver for the second most in the NFL during that span. Only Pittsburgh (303) has more wins as the home team.
  • The Vikings have out rushed their opponent in all 7 victories this season. The team is 7-0 after out rushing Jacksonville 169 to 56.
  • The Vikings are 10th best on Offense with 24.6 points/game and 4th in defense with 16.4 point/game allowed. The only other team with a Top 10 Offense and a Top 5 Defense is Philadelphia (7th 25.9 PPG and 2nd 16.2 PPG Allowed).
  • In Week 10 at Jacksonville, the Vikings’ time of possession came in at 42:19, the most in a non-overtime game since Philadelphia had 43:19 TOP in Week 17 of the 2018 season.
  • The Vikings are averaging 7.64 passing yards per play, the fifth most in the NFL this season.
  • Minnesota has converted 30.9% of its 3rd-and-6+ plays through Week 10, the fourth-highest percentage league wide. Kansas City (34.6%), Washington (33.3%) and Tampa Bay (31.0%) have achieved better marks. (Remember when they used to throw for 3 yards and punt?)
  • Only 16 of Minnesota’s 101 total offensive series (15.8%) this season have resulted in 3-and-out, the fourth-lowest percentage league wide behind Atlanta (10.7%), San Francisco (11.8%) and Miami (15.5%).
  • The Vikings have held their opponents scoreless in 16 quarters this season, including each of the final three quarters against the Jaguars in Week 10, tied with the Los Angeles Chargers for the most quarters.

How I See it Playing Out

The Titans have beat the Dolphins without Tua and the Patriots. They are one of the worst teams in the league. However, as we saw last week, the Vikings don’t always take care of these easy games. The Lions lit them up for 52 because of 4 turnovers. The defense is decent. Will “Mayo” Levis isn’t anyone to be scared of, but he does have some talent. Calvin Ridley is a very talented receiver and Tony Pollard can put up some yards. This is a game we’ll see the defense celebrating a lot. Levis will give them some opportunities for interceptions and the Vikings lead the league in interceptions with 15. This game has massive blowout written all over it. I think the offense gets right a little bit with a low pressure game. No turnovers, run the ball, move the chains, get out with a victory.
