For Giants, the one question at the center of the Dexter Lawrence trade demand | The Athletic
The answer to a simple question will guide the New York Giants through their contract standoff with Dexter Lawrence: Was last season’s underperformance the start of a decline for the 28-year-old or an outlier for a player who had established himself as the best interior defensive lineman in the NFL?
Simple question. But a complicated answer that carries high stakes.

Is CB a real possibility at No. 5? | ESPN.com
The Giants had LSU’s Mansoor Delane in for a visit Thursday. Delane is Scout Inc.‘s eighth-ranked player and the Giants need a shutdown cornerback. Paulson Adebo and Greg Newsome II aren’t that. The Giants are at least doing their homework on Delane and Tennessee’s Jermod McCoy, widely considered the top cornerbacks in this draft.
The question is whether they would do it at pick five. Delane plays the physical style that new coach John Harbaugh’s teams favor. McCoy is more of a reach coming off a serious injury. Perhaps they would be more serious options if the Giants trade back in the first round and accumulate more picks. League sources have said that is something they believe the Giants would prefer — drop a few spots, add more picks.
Ranking NY Giants’ likeliest targets in 2026 NFL Draft first round | The Record
New York Giants coach John Harbaugh was asked for his evaluation of the talent at the top of the 2026 NFL Draft.
“A lot of good players. A lot of good players,” Harbaugh said. “I mean, there’s gonna be a great one there at No. 5, I promise you that. It’s gonna be a guy that can really help us be better, for sure. That’s 100%, for sure.”
What Giants could do at offensive line in the 2026 NFL Draft | New York Post
A case can be made that the Giants did not do enough this offseason to strengthen their offensive line.
New head coach John Harbaugh sees this unit as a work in progress, and he is not overly enthusiastic about what he inherited. There was an attempt to find a starting right guard in free agency, but a match was not made.
Would Sonny Styles take Giants’ defense to next level? | NJ.com
Notable stats: Last season, Styles did a bit of everything for Ohio State. He had one interception, three pass breakups, 6.5 tackles for loss, one sack, four quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. In 2024, he had 10.5 tackles for loss, six sacks and five pass breakups.
Why Giants might draft him: Yes, they just signed Tremaine Edmunds to what is essentially a two-year, $25.5 million contract. But Harbaugh desperately wants to upgrade the Giants’ putrid run defense — and has long loved an athletic inside linebacker like Styles. Forget the Giants re-signing Micah McFadden. That has zero bearing on Harbaugh perhaps pairing Styles with Edmunds. In 2024, Styles moved from safety to linebacker, so he has plenty of coverage skills, plus athleticism.
New York Giants great Justin Tuck on Abdul Carter: ‘Sky is the limit’ | USAToday.com
“I mean, honestly, Abdul’s rookie year reminded me of mine, to be honest with you. He came in with more fanfare than I did. It started off slow. There was a lot of praise—and well deserved, for that matter—for what he did in college and what he looked like he was going to turn into as a pro,” Tuck said. “So it definitely started out slower than people expected, but I think that’s because of a lot of reasons. One, it’s hard to finagle yourself into that lineup when you have guys like Burns and Kayvon who are pros and know exactly what the NFL game looks like. I obviously had Michael [Strahan] and Osi [Umenyiora] and was in a similar situation.
“So now, getting an opportunity to go through the offseason and truly hone his craft as an NFL player, I think the sky is the limit for him. I think his talent is phenomenal, and I’m only wishing him a ton of luck.”
