The Cincinnati Bengals need plenty of defensive help this upcoming season, and especially beyond that. They have some young cornerstones on that side of the ball, but most of their young guys have yet to put it together for a significant amount of time.
The defensive line might be the most crucial area to have depth and young players waiting in the wings. The Bengals haven’t got much of either, which is why they could be eyeing a local prospect to help solve that.
Cincinnati’s Jalen Hunt is the kind of guy the Bengals need, and according to Ryan Fowler, the Bengals are hosting him for a visit this week. The Bengals already have several run stuffers or nose tackles in the middle, but not much in the way of pass rush. That is a big reason they went out and signed Jonathan Allen in free agency.
No one is going to question his athletic ability with a relative athletic score over 9.5. However, he isn’t high on many draft boards. That follows a tradition of the Bengals not being afraid to use visits on potential undrafted free agents in order to make an impression without just trying to be the first team to call them.
This is the kind of player you hope develops on the practice squad or just surprises you out of the gate. He isn’t going to come in and be a starter, though. With the right expectations, he could be a quality pick-up.
