The Cincinnati Bengals have waived center Matt Lee, the team announced on Tuesday.
Lee, who is set to be a third-year player for the 2026 NFL season, was originally a seventh-round pick of the Bengals in the 2024 draft by way of the Miami Hurricanes. He played in 22 games with one start for Cincinnati.
This move comes as a surprise since Lee has been able to play guard and center, giving the Bengals depth at multiple positions. But while he did log offensive snaps in 2024, he was limited to special teams this past season, so perhaps the team didn’t feel confident enough in his abilities to even keep him on the offseason 90-man roster.
Looking ahead, the Bengals need more depth on the interior of their offensive line, especially now that Lucas Patrick has signed with the New York Giants.
Don’t be surprised if the Bengals spend at least one draft pick on an interior lineman later this month.
