Tuesday was a huge day for Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy.
McCoy tore his ACL in January of 2025, so his Pro Day was the first time seeing him back in action on the field since that occurred.
He put up some electric numbers according to those in attendance at the Tennessee Pro Day. He tested well in the explosives with a 38” vertical jump and a 10’7” broad jump. He was also clocked running a 4.38 40-yard dash time.
If it weren’t for the injury, McCoy would have been considered a top-five draft prospect in this class, as he was coming out of summer scouting based only on the 2024 tape. McCoy had an 89.6 coverage grade in 2024 with 44 tackles and 4 interceptions on the season. He was often left on an island and won the majority of those battles.
McCoy did have 8 penalties during the 2024 season, so that will be something he will need to clean up at the next level. However, I would much rather have to teach a corner to be a little less physical than to have to teach a guy to be physical at the position.
How would you feel if Jermod McCoy was the Bengals’ selection in the first round this year? Sound off in the comments.
