We’re getting to it a bit later than we wanted to, but it’s time for the results of our most recent SB Nation Reacts poll about our Minnesota Vikings! We started shifting our focus to the 2026 NFL Draft with this week’s questions, and the people have officially spoken about what they think the Vikings might do with their first pick at this year’s selection meeting.

Our first question for the week was what, exactly, you think the purple will do with the 18th overall pick in Round 1. Keep it? Trade it? Well, there’s certainly a consensus.

SB Nation Reacts Results: What Will the Vikings Do?

Of those who responded to our poll, 61% believe that the Vikings will stay right where they are and make their selection at #18. Of those who think they’ll make a move, 34% believe that they’ll try to move back and accumulate more picks, while just 5% believe that they’ll try to make a move up the board for a premium player.

Personally, I think they’re going to try to move back a little bit. This is going to bleed over a bit into the next question, but I don’t think the value at #18 lines up with their position of greatest need, or at least with the position that I would address first, so I think a small move down would be their best move. Not moving all the way down out of Round 1 or anything like that, but moving down a few picks if they can pull it off.

Speaking of that next question, it has to do with what position you think they’ll address first in this year’s draft. The top answer matches up with what a lot of the mock drafts that are out there at the moment are showing, but it’s a very close call among our fans.

By the closest of margins, our readers are going with safety as the Vikings’ first pick, with 38% of our readers choosing that position in our poll. Right behind that at 37% is the defensive line, which has taken a couple of hits already this offseason. After that is the cornerback position at 15%, and running back picking up 5% of the votes.

I went with the defensive line, myself. As much as I like the young players like Jalen Redmond, Levi Drake Rodriguez, and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, I would like to see one of the big space eaters in the middle of this defense somewhere. Brian Flores has proven that he can make a lot of things work in the secondary with guys that aren’t premium types of players, and if the team can get a big wide body in the middle to help shore up the run defense a bit, he could do a lot more things on obvious passing downs. That’s my logic, anyway. . .your mileage, as always, may vary.

Those are our results for this week, ladies and gentlemen. As always, thank you to everyone who participated in this week’s poll, and keep your eyes open for another set of poll questions coming out in the next day or two.
