Other Giant observations
Where are all the Giants interior offensive, defensive linemen? | ESPN.com
Despite checking in earlier on former Cleveland Browns guard Wyatt Teller, New York made the calculated decision at that point to not spend significantly at the guard position. The Giants were said to be looking for an interior offensive lineman in the $4 million range, sources told ESPN. They were going to wait to see if some of the prices dropped on the deep crop of free agent guards.
More than a week later, they’re still waiting. Teller signed earlier this week with the Houston Texans for $8 million per year, with the potential for more. The Giants were never going anywhere near that price. Instead, they wait with guards such as Joel Bitonio, Kevin Zeitler, Greg Van Roten, Daniel Faalele and Will Hernandez still available.
New Giants cite John Harbaugh, QB Jaxson Dart as huge draws in signing | New York Daily News
The newest Giants free agents met the media recently and all cited head coach John Harbaugh’s presence as a big selling point in their decision to come to New York. “That’s a Hall of Fame coach, you know what I mean?” Edmunds, 27, said on Zoom. “I’ve been a fan of Coach Harbaugh for a long time. I actually grew up a Ravens fan. So I was very [familiar] with what he did and players that he coached.” Edmunds said Hall of Fame Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis “was my favorite player growing up,” and now he’s excited to “kind of get under that same tree and just get around greatness.
Tight end Isaiah Likely said he thought “New York was just the best place for me to be able to blossom, show my talents and show that I’m a top tight end caliber player in this league now…Jaxson [is] a great young quarterback. He obviously shows a lot of charisma when he’s out there. Excited to get out there and play with him. When you watch him, you see the type of drive he has to win any game by any means necessary. You love that, when you have a quarterback like that that’s ready to do whatever it takes to win the game.”
Isaiah Likely has another level to hit — and the Giants are counting on it | New York Post
There are signings based on so many different things, when it comes to a newcomer arriving on the scene. Sometimes, the hope is the player will continue to do what he did with his previous team. Sometimes, there were physical issues in the past and the hope is health will be restored with a fresh start elsewhere.
2026 NFL Draft: Worst-case scenario for all NFC teams | PFF
Worst-case scenario: Not adding offensive linemen to protect Jaxson Dart. One of the surprises of the 2025 NFL season was the massively improved play from the New York Giants’ offensive line, as the unit finished 2025 ninth in PFF’s final rankings. Although right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor was re-signed, the future hangs in the balance with guard Greg Van Roten.
Dart was able to play well as a rookie with good protection, but he didn’t enjoy the talents of Malik Nabers — who suffered a torn ACL in Week 4. Nabers will return and provide a phenomenal weapon for Dart to target, so investing further in the offensive line to keep Dart upright is a must for the Giants in 2026.
InGame listed the New York Giants top penalized players over the last decade, and one current member of the team landed on the list. According to the study, only accepted penalties were counted between the 2014 and 2024 seasons; the yardage reflected the accepted penalties rather than the total number of flags drawn by each player. The study also focused only on regular-season games.
Cornerback Deonte Banks, who has been flagged nine times over the last decade, ranked fourth on the Giants’ list in terms of having racked up the most penalty yards (133). That put Banks behind franchise leaders Janoris Jenkins (249), Ereck Flowers (224), and Eli Apple (190). In terms of the number of penalties, Flowers (27) and Jenkins (21) were first and second, respectively.
Giants mock draft: A needs-based projection as free agency winds down | The Athletic
Round 2, pick 37: Chase Bisontis, OG, Texas A&M. It would be surprising if the Giants don’t sign a starting-caliber right guard before the draft, but it will likely be a one-year stopgap at this stage of free agency (bringing back Greg Van Roten for another year makes a lot of sense). Guard figures to be a top priority in the draft, with the hopes of landing a long-term solution who could compete for the starting job as a rookie. Bisontis would fit that bill in the second round. The 6-foot-5, 315-pounder’s run-blocking would be a natural fit in the Giants’ offense, and he has the upside to develop into a quality all-around guard.
“For a lot of my career, I haven’t had that one guy back there playing quarterback,” he said in an interview with “Official Titans Podcast.” “It’ll be nice to know that we got our guy back there….And I can’t wait to get back there with him.”
Before he ever stepped foot on an NFL sideline as a coach, John Harbaugh played safety for four seasons at Miami (Ohio) University. More than 40 years later, Harbaugh is returning to his alma mater to speak at graduation. Harbaugh, Class of 1984, will give the keynote address at Miami University’s spring commencement on May 16 at Yager Stadium, the school recently announced.
“It’s a great honor to be Miami’s commencement speaker,” Harbaugh said. “I just have so much respect for Miami, for the administration, for the university, for everything it stands for, for everything it did for me.”
