The Cincinnati Bengals’ secondary is shaping up, with DJ Turner and Dax Hill taking big steps forward and the team adding Bryan Cook in free agency.
Another pillar of that unit is safety Jordan Battle, who started all 17 games last season and had 125 combined tackles.
As a result of that production and playing time, Battle is getting another $1.02 million in performance-based pay.
This program, which is awarding $542 million to players across the NFL, is, according to the league’s official release, “a collectively bargained benefit that compensates all players based upon their playing time and salary levels.”
Battle received the 24th most money on account of outperforming his contract.
Cornerback Nashon Wright of the Chicago Bears earned the most ($1.4 million).
Another familiar name on the list for Bengals fans is free safety Nick Scott of the Chicago Panthers, who earned the fourth most in performance-based incentives ($1.26 million).
Hopefully, Battle will only continue to get better and earn a lucrative deal after his rookie contract expires.
