Why This Could Be the Perfect Draft for the Philadelphia Eagles
If there’s one thing the Philadelphia Eagles have proven over the past decade, it’s that our front office knows how to build a roster that lasts. The formula is clear: dominate the trenches, stockpile versatile athletes, and draft players who can develop behind established veterans before stepping into bigger roles.
This mock draft hits every one of those principles. From a dynamic offensive weapon early to late-round developmental pieces along the line, this class quietly addresses both present needs and future transitions on the roster.
Let’s break down why my draft would be an ideal haul for our beloved Birds.
Round 1 – Kenyon Sadiq, TE (Oregon)
The Eagles’ offense has always been at its most dangerous when the tight end position is a focal point. With Dallas Goedert still producing at a high level (and perhaps leaving soon), drafting Kenyon Sadiq from the Oregon Ducks football gives the team another explosive pass-catching option while also planning for the future.
Sadiq brings speed, athleticism, and the ability to stretch the middle of the field. He can line up as a traditional tight end, move into the slot, or even operate as an H-back. In the offense run by Nick Sirianni, that versatility is extremely valuable.
Early in his career, Sadiq could thrive in two-tight-end sets while developing into a long-term successor at the position.
Round 2 – Jacob Rodriguez, LB (Texas Tech)
Linebacker might not always be the Eagles’ flashiest investment (and we generally don’t invest this highly in the position), but we value instinctive players who can diagnose plays quickly. Jacob Rodriguez from Texas Tech Red Raiders football fits that profile perfectly.
Rodriguez is a relentless defender with strong tackling fundamentals and excellent awareness in the middle of the field. He may not arrive as a Day 1 star, but his motor and instincts give him a strong chance to become a reliable defensive piece.
At minimum, he would contribute on special teams early while developing into a starting linebacker with probowl upside.
The dude was a Heisman contender, and I believe he is going to be a star in the NFL.
Round 3 – D’Angelo Ponds, CB (Indiana)
Cornerback depth is always critical in today’s NFL, especially for a defense that relies on strong coverage outside. That’s where D’Angelo Ponds from the Indiana Hoosiers football becomes an intriguing pick.
Ponds is competitive, quick, and aggressive in coverage.
Ponds could compete immediately for nickel snaps while also developing into a future outside starter.
Round 3 – Garrett Nussmeier, QB (LSU)
Teams rarely think about the backup quarterback position until they need it. The Eagles, however, have often prioritized developing quarterbacks behind Jalen Hurts.
Garrett Nussmeier from LSU Tigers football has one of the stronger arms in the class and thrives in aggressive downfield passing schemes. Sitting behind Hurts would give him time to refine his decision-making while learning the system.
Even if he never becomes a starter in Philadelphia, quarterbacks with upside often turn into valuable trade assets later on. Cry about the early investment now, just like we all did when draft Jalen. Learn from your mistakes, I know I have.
Round 4 – Dametrious Crownover, OT (Texas A&M)
Few teams develop offensive linemen better than the Eagles, largely thanks to offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland. I curse the day he decided to leave!!!!
Dametrious Crownover from Texas A&M Aggies football fits the mold of the kind of lineman Philadelphia loves: big, physical, and moldable.
With veterans like Lane Johnson eventually nearing the later stages of their careers, investing in young tackles who can develop in the system is a smart long-term move.
Round 4 – Nick Singleton, RB (Penn State)
Getting Nick Singleton from the Penn State Nittany Lions football in the fourth round would feel like stealing. I love this feeling.
Singleton is a powerful runner with breakaway speed, capable of turning small gaps into explosive gains. Behind Philadelphia’s dominant offensive line, his running style could translate extremely well to the NFL.
In an offense where Hurts already stresses defenses with his mobility, adding another explosive runner would only make things more dangerous.
Round 5 – Jalen Farmer, IOL (Kentucky)
The Eagles have built their identity around offensive line strength, and they never stop adding to it.
Jalen Farmer from the Kentucky Wildcats football brings versatility across the interior line. Whether at guard or center, he has the physical traits to develop into a valuable depth player.
And under the guidance of Birds coaching staff, mid-round offensive linemen in Philadelphia often turn into much more than just backups. Again, why Jeff, why????
Round 5 – Chris McClellan, DL (Missouri)
Defensive line rotation is one of the Eagles’ core philosophies. They want waves of fresh linemen attacking opposing quarterbacks.
Chris McClellan from the Missouri Tigers football adds another physical presence to the interior. While he may begin as a rotational player, his size and strength make him a strong fit for the Eagles’ defensive front.
With proper development, he could become an important depth piece in the rotation.
Round 6 – Nadame Tucker, EDGE (Western Michigan)
Late-round picks are about traits and upside, and Nadame Tucker from the Western Michigan Broncos football checks that box.
He flashes athleticism and pass-rush potential that could make him a developmental project worth investing in. In Philadelphia’s defensive system, even rotational edge rushers can have meaningful roles.
If Tucker develops properly, he could eventually become a situational pass rusher off the edge.
