The Miami Dolphins added three more free agents on Friday. The team announced the signing of long snapper Tucker Addington and punter Seth Vernon while ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the addition of edge rusher David Ojabo. The addition of Addington and Vernon fills out Miami’s special teams depth chart, joining kickers Riley Patterson and Zane Gonzalez. Patterson re-signed with Miami after serving as the team’s injury replacement for Jason Sanders last year; Patterson and Gonzalez are expected to compete for the one kicking spot on the roster.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter also reported Miami lost a free agent as safety Elijah Campbell agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Giants.

Who is Tucker Addington?

This marks Addington’s second stint with the Dolphins, having previously spent a 20-day period of Miami’s practice squad during the 2024 season as the team looked to fill-ins for Blake Ferguson, who missed most of the season on the non-football illness list.

After not being selected during the 2020 NFL Draft out of Sam Houston State, Addington joined the Houston Gamblers in the USFL in 2022. He joined the Dallas Cowboys practice squad during the NFL’s 2022 season as a potential injury replacement for Jake McQuiade, but was released a week later. He joined the New England Patriots’ practice squad late in 2022, serving as an injury replacement for Joe Cardona for three games.

After being waived by the Patriots during the 2023 preseason, Addington was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars but was released at the end of the preseason. He signed late in 2023 with the Washington Commanders before being released during the 2024 offseason. Addington returned to the Patriots during the 2024 preseason before being among the final roster cuts. He returned to the Patriots midseason as a practice squad addition, again filling in when Cardona was injured. He was released 11 days later, with the Dolphins then signing him.

After Miami released him, he joined the Jaguars again, signing to their practice squad for a week stint. After the end of the 2024 season, Addington signed a futures contract with the Houston Texans, but was released before training camp began. He then joined the Pittsburgh Steelers but was cut during the preseason.

Addington will turn 29 as training camps begin this year. He seems to be a fringe NFL player, able to be an emergency fill-in for injuries, but never sticking with a team for long. He has appeared in 10 games in his career, four of them as an injury replacement for Cardona – who he will now look to replace as the Dolphins’ long snapper after the veteran joined the Los Angeles Rams as a free agent this offseason.

What are the contract details?

No details were reported for Addington’s contract.

Who is Seth Vernon?

Vernon went undrafted in 2022 out of Portland State, signing with the Atlanta Falcons. In 2024, he spent training camp with the Minnesota Vikings before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad that season. In 2025, he punted for the Michigan Panthers in the UFL.

What are the contract details?

No details were reported for Vernon’s contract.

Who is David Ojabo?

A second-round pick out of Michigan in the 2022 NFL Draft, Ojabo has spent the first five years of his career with the Baltimore Ravens. He tore his Achilles tendon during his Pro Day before the draft, with the Ravens placing him on injured reserve to start his rookie season. He was activated late in the season and played two games. In 2023, he again landed on injured reserve after injuring his knee during the team’s Week 3 game. He played in 13 and 14 games, respectively, in 2024 and 2025.

He has 32 tackles, two forced fumbles, and 4.5 sacks for his career, appearing in 32 games with one start. He played a career-high 69 snaps on special teams last year, a role the Dolphins could consider for him in 2026.

Considered a steal as a second-round pick by the Ravens, Ojabo has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, and his play seems to have suffered from the repeated injuries. A fresh start could be what he needs, but he could also be a camp body as the Dolphins fill out their roster ahead of training camp.

Ojabo, 6-foot-4, 252 pounds, turns 26 in May. He was born in Nigeria and moved to Scotland as a child. He came to the United States at 17.

What are the contract details?

No details were reported for Ojabo’s contract.
