Jason Pinnock, who had best season of his career with the New York Giants in 2023, is returning to the team.
Pinnock had 102 tackles, two interceptions, six passes defensed, two sacks, and two forced fumbles as a safety in Wink Martindale’s aggressive defense in 2023. With Shane Bowen running a less aggressive defense in 2024, Pinnock’s production declined.
He signed with the San Francisco 49ers for the 2025. He started seven of 16 games for the 49ers, and now returns to the Giants in a defense coordinator by Dennard Wilson that should be more aggressive.
Pinnock was a fifth-round pick by the New York Jets in 2021. The Giants claimed him on waivers the following year.
New York lost safety Dane Belton to the Jets in free agency, and has now added Pinnock and Ar’Darius Washington at the position.
Reports indicate that Pinnock is signing a one-year, veteran salary benefit minimum contract with the Giants.
