2026 NFL mock draft: Top 10 pick predictions off free agency | ESPN.com
5. New York Giants. Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State. A busy start to free agency for the Giants included inking former Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to a three-year deal. This pick for me ultimately came down to Downs and his college teammate Sonny Styles, but adding Edmunds reduced the need for a linebacker at this spot. Downs’ three-year run in college, handling all sorts of responsibilities and communication, reinforces why his upside could be so significant for New York’s defense.

The Giants’ second-year back revealed that he ran for the first time since his gruesome season-ending ankle injury at about 75 percent on Wednesday morning.
“I could get away from like a baby hippo maybe, that’s about it,” Skattebo joked. “But yeah, it’s up to a little bit over a jog — kind of just striding out, not exploding and getting into that part of the game yet, but the jog and the striding to this point.”
Wink Martindale: Giants’ John Harbaugh will draft to defeat NFC East foes | USAToday.com
Speaking with Pat Leonard on the Talkin’ Ball podcast, former Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale shared that he believes the team will approach the 2026 NFL draft with a targeted strategy aimed at beating NFC East foes. This mindset aligns with new head coach John Harbaugh’s approach.
“The first question whenever you bring up a player is, ‘How is he gonna help us beat Philly?’” Martindale said. “‘How is he gonna help us beat Dallas?’ That’s the way John (Harbaugh) and Ozzie (Newsome) did it for years.”
Rutgers adds ex-Giants assistant, 2-time Super Bowl champion to coaching staff | NJ.com
The Scarlet Knights have hired Mike Sullivan, a longtime NFL assistant coach who won two Super Bowls with the Giants, as a senior offensive assistant, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NJ.com on Thursday.
Sullivan worked with head coach Greg Schiano in Tampa, serving as his offensive coordinator during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He also worked with the Giants across two stints — serving multiple positions from wide receivers and quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator, helping them win Super Bowls XLII and XLVI — as well as the Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers.
