Eagles officially confirm coaching staff changes, finally

Nice of the Philadelphia Eagles to finally join most (if not all?) other teams and confirm their coaching staff changes ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

We’ve already learned of most of these hires/changes over time through various media reports but now the team has put them down all in one place. Still not on the team’s official website, which currently displays the following on their “Coaches” tab:

Eagles officially confirm coaching staff changes, finally

But rather from the “Coaches” section in their media guide, as first noted by friend of BGN @igglesnut.

Let’s sort through the news.

NEW HIRES

SEAN MANNION

PREVIOUS TITLE: Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach

CURRENT TITLE: Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator

Mannion is replacing Kevin Patullo as the Eagles’ play-caller. He only has two years of coaching experience after retiring as a quarterback in the NFL. People who’ve worked with Mannion have really great things to say about him, which is nice, but the reality is he’s a big projection. Might work out! Might not.

JOSH GRIZZARD

PREVIOUS TITLE: Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator

CURRENT TITLE: Philadelphia Eagles offensive passing game coordinator

Grizzard spent one season as the Bucs’ play-caller (replacing Liam Coen, who was hired as the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach) before being fired. The Eagles interviewed Grizzard for their OC opening before hiring Mannion instead. But they still got Grizzard in the building to take on the role that was previously held by Parks Frazier in 2025 and Patullo for years before last season.

RYAN MAHAFFEY

PREVIOUS TITLE: Green Bay Packers wide receivers coach

CURRENT TITLE: Philadelphia Eagles run game coordinator/tight ends coach

Mahaffey obviously overlapped with Mannion in Green Bay before coming to Philly. In addition to replacing Jason Michael as the Eagles’ TE coach, he’s also taking the “run game coordinator” title previously held by Jeff Stoutland since 2018.

CHRIS KUPER

PREVIOUS TITLE: Minnesota Vikings offensive line coach

CURRENT TITLE: Philadelphia Eagles offensive line coach

Kuper spent four years as the Vikings’ OL coach before his contract expired and Minnesota decided not to retain him. The Eagles then hired Kuper to be their Stoutland replacement. The former NFL guard has massive shoes to fill.

JERROD JOHNSON

PREVIOUS TITLE: Houston Texans quarterbacks coach

CURRENT TITLE: Philadelphia Eagles senior offensive assistant/special projects for the head coach

The Eagles interviewed Johnson for their OC opening before hiring Mannion instead. They then scooped him up as an assistant after the Texans fired him. Curious as to what his specific responsibilities will be.

MIKE PELLEGRINO

PREVIOUS TITLE: Buffalo Bills nickels coach

CURRENT TITLE: Philadelphia Eagles secondary coach

Prior to one year as the Bills’ slot CB coach, Pellegrino spent 10 seasons with the New England Patriots. His track record would suggest he’ll be working more with corners than safeties.

BEYAH RASOOL

PREVIOUS TITLE: Florida quality control coach

CURRENT TITLE: Philadelphia Eagles defensive assistant

Rasool is joining the NFL after previously coaching in the college ranks since 2012.

ALLEN SMITH

PREVIOUS TITLE: Army defensive line coach

CURRENT TITLE: Philadelphia Eagles defensive assistant

Smith, who was an assistant DL coach with the Houston Texans in 2021, is returning to the NFL after spending the last four seasons coaching in the college ranks.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES TITLE CHANGES

CLINT HURTT

PREVIOUS TITLE: Senior defensive assistant/defensive line coach

CURRENT TITLE: Senior defensive assistant/defensive line coach/associate head coach

Hurtt is gaining the “associate head coach” title that was previously held by Patullo before he was promoted to offensive coordinator. When it looked like Nick Sirianni might miss a game due to contracting COVID in 2021 (he ended up being OK), Patullo was in line to fill in for the Eagles’ head coach. So, perhaps now Hurtt would be the interim head coach in the event of Sirianni becoming unavailable? It’s worth noting the Eagles also have an assistant head coach in Jemal Singleton. Not really clear what the difference between assistant head coach and associate head coach is. Way too many words here on a change that might not even really mean much at all. That being said, the title bump could help Hurtt as it relates to him eventually getting promoted (to either defensive coordinator or head coach). Might look good on the resume.

JOE KASPER

PREVIOUS TITLE: Safeties coach

CURRENT TITLE: Defensive passing game coordinator

Kasper is replacing Christian Parker’s title of defensive passing game coordinator. As a reminder, Parker left the Eagles to become the Dallas Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator (boo). Parker used to hold the title of “defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach,” so, it’s not an exact title replacement. Kasper clearly has more of a background with safeties than with corners.

PARKS FRAZIER

PREVIOUS TITLE: Passing game coordinator

CURRENT TITLE: Quarterbacks coach

Kind of curious that the Eagles reassigned Frazier, especially since he doesn’t have extensive experience coaching quarterbacks. But the Eagles seem to be putting out there that Mannion will be heavily involved in the QB room. The Jerrod Johnson addition also gives the Eagles another QB resource. It’s also worth noting here that previous QB coach Scot Loeffler is no longer listed on the coaching staff after joining the team last year. Loeffler had left his role as Bowling Green’s head coach to come to Philly.

JOE PANNUNZIO

PREVIOUS TITLE: Assistant special teams coordinator

CURRENT TITLE: Assistant special teams coordinator/director of team relationships

After spending the last five seasons under his previous title, the Eagles are adding “director of team relationships” to his title. Not sure what that really means but … noted.

MONTGOMERY VANGORDER

PREVIOUS TITLE: Offensive quality control coach

CURRENT TITLE: Offensive assistant/assistant quarterbacks coach

First of all: yes, this is a real name. MVG joined the Eagles last offseason. Now he’s listed with a specific position group.

ERIC DICKERSON

PREVIOUS TITLE: Offensive quality control coach

CURRENT TITLE: Offensive assistant/assistant tight ends coach

After spending the last four seasons under his previous title, Dickerson is now listed with a specific position group.

TYLER SCUDDER

PREVIOUS TITLE: Defensive quality control coach

CURRENT TITLE: Assistant linebackers coach

After spending the last two seasons under his previous title, Scudder is now listed with a specific position group.
