At least two of the Philadelphia Eagles’ top three backup offensive linemen from 2025 will not be returning to the team in 2026.
Earlier on Tuesday, Matt Pryor reportedly signed with the Arizona Cardinals. And now Brett Toth is apparently following him to the NFC West.
Toth is joining the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year contract, according to a report from NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro.
Toth logged 363 offensive snaps (34.44% of the team’s total) with the Eagles in 2025, making four starts in 17 games played. He served as the Eagles’ top backup interior offensive lineman, filling in at both center and left guard.
Toth passed the eye test whenever he was forced into action. Pro Football Focus actually graded him 21st out of 126 guards (just above Tyler Steen at 22nd) who logged at least 20% of their team’s offensive snaps last year.
And so losing Toth doesn’t seem ideal. But it’s not surprising to see him leave, especially after Jeff Stoutland departed the Eagles. The team’s former offensive line coach was a big Toth advocate.
If Fred Johnson also departs in free agency, the Eagles will have three new backup offensive linemen behind their five starters in 2026.
