The New York Giants have agreed to terms with former Baltimore Ravens punter Jordan Stout, per Adam Schefter.
Stout becomes the second former Raven to follow John Harbaugh up I-95 to New York, and in doing so becomes the highest-paid punter in the NFL. Schefter reports that Stout will sign a $3-year, 12.3 million contract to come play for the Giants.
The decision to sign Jordan Stout likely means that Jamie Gillan — aka the Scottish Hammer — is likely to be a former Giant. Stout, a Penn State product, has averaged 47.5 yards per punt with the Ravens, up from Gillan’s 45.5 yard average in New York.
The Giants previously agreed to terms with former Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely, and it’s fitting that a tight end and a punter would be the Giants’ first two big additions under John Harbaugh. The Giants still have holes to address on offense and defense, but improving the special teams was a priority for Harbaugh.
