As most of us are aware, the Cincinnnati Bengals were one of the worst defenses the last couple of years, especially giving up explosive plays over the top.
Jalon Kilgore was one of the handful of defensive backs the Bengals met with at the recent NFL Combine, according to Malik Wright.
In need of a safety, Kilgore could be a good Day 2-3 option, as Cincinnati has been linked to a few other players and positions in the first couple of rounds, such as Caleb Downs at safety and Rueben Bain Jr. at defensive end. The Gamecock DB is projected to go in Round 3 by the NFL Mock Draft Database.
Kilgore is a former 4-star recruit who played nearly every week in college, missing only three games entering last season. He was a critical run stopper for the Gamecocks, which would be exactly what the Bengals are looking for as they were in the bottom 10 of teams last season in stopping the run.
He would fit right in the mold the Bengals are looking for, according to the characteristics of Duke Tobin’s preferred player, being versatile and playing both nickel and safety.
Kilgore will be one to watch for in Cincinnati when the draft rolls around.
