Report: Rams discussed trade for AJ Brown

The Rams are not done adding marquee names at receiver, if you believe the report that they have considered trading for A.J. Brown.

If one thing has been clear to start the 2026 offseason, it is that the Los Angeles Rams are going to be aggressive. Since the start of the offseason, the Rams have been mentioned in nearly every potential trade discussion. Earlier this week, it was reported by MMQB’s Albert Breer that the Rams were a team to watch with Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby. On Wednesday, the Rams traded a first-round pick for Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie to solidify their secondary. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini is now reporting that the Rams were discussing a trade for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown but have moved on

The extent to which the Rams discussed AJ Brown and whether this was just internal is unclear. According to Russini, “while teams have been internally discussing potential trade packages for A.J. Brown, no team has made an official offer to the Eagles, per multiple sources.”

It’s very possible that the Buffalo Bills giving up a second-round pick for DJ Moore raised Brown’s price and that led to the Rams moving on. Still, the Rams showing trade interest in a wide receiver of Brown’s caliber is fascinating nonetheless.

When it comes to the wide receiver position, the Rams have always invested heavily during the Sean McVay era. With that said, the Rams have Puka Nacua and Davante Adams is coming off of a season in which he led the NFL in touchdown receptions. Many would say that the Rams don’t have a need at the position.

The interest in Brown may have simply been opportunistic interest. At the same time, it could signal how the Rams may approach this offseason. It’s very possible that the Rams want a more experienced third wide receiver behind Nacua and Adams and want to upgrade from Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield. This could point to the Rams having some interest in a big name wide receiver in free agency or targeting a player such as Jordyn Tyson in the draft.

It’s very clear that the Rams have an understanding of the importance of the 2026 season. By re-signing players like Kam Curl and Tyler Higbee and trading for Trent McDuffie the Rams are running it back, but also have an understanding of where their weaknesses are. They are pushing more chips into the middle of the table and going all-in and interest in Brown shows that they are leaving no stone left unturned.
