Free agency can be a risky venture. For as many quality signings the club has made this decade, there have been just as many whiffs that have contributed to Cincinnati coming off a 6-11 season in 2025.
Some prospects, including presumed number one pick Fernando Mendoza, did not work out at the Combine, instead choosing to only work at their Pro Days. Others use Pro Days as a chance to improve on previous results set at the Combine, such as running the 40-yard dash again to post a faster time.
“Bears are releasing former Pro-Bowl LB Tremaine Edmunds,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted. “Edmunds has been a full-time starter in each of his eight NFL seasons, and he now will become a free agent with 900 tackles on his resume.”
Courtesy of Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News, the Bengals go with Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy, who can be a very good defender when healthy. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen that in over a year, as an ACL injury cost him the entire 2025 season. He also did not do any drills in Indianapolis at the Scouting Combine. He is expected to work out during his Pro Day on March 31.
