The first significant domino of the 2026 NFL offseason has fallen into place.

If you think the Rams won that trade that’s the problem. That’s why the Chiefs been running the league the past decade getting away with highway robbery. SMH

If rams pull this off you can just booked them for a Super Bowl run.

Rams are going “all in” again
Two big reasons why Trent McDuffie works out better than Marcus Peters did for the Rams.
1. He fits their profile as a small, but aggressive CB. Good in run-support + slot/outside versatility.
2. Past connection with Jimmy Lake who recruited and coached him at UW.

RAMS FANS:
McDuffie’s teammates will all tell you this:
Smart as hell. Fundamentals are through the roof. Great hands in coverage. Chess piece. Willing to do anything in the game plan to win. So strong and explosive. (He actually would win squat competitions). Favorite teammate— James Palmer (@JamesPalmerTV) March 4, 2026
The Los Angeles Rams are now the consensus favorite to win Super Bowl LXI at sportsbooks after the Trent McDuffie deal, ahead of the Seattle Seahawks.

The Trent McDuffie trade is a cool example of two franchises with wildly different team-building philosophies that prove that both strategies can work.
The Rams consistently devalue picks to add playmakers at positions of need.
The Chiefs drafted Patrick Mahomes 9 years ago.

Trent McDuffie gives Rams a really solid presence on the outside. They love to load up in nickel and dime but with safeties these days; having a top CB who can hold down the perimeter allows them to keep the math on their side (although he could kick inside in a pinch).

A few things …
• The Chiefs have granted the Rams permission to work out an extension (trade can’t be processed for a week).
• McDuffie’s camp wants a market-topping deal (so the APY will start with a 3).
• McDuffie is reunited with his college coach Jimmy Lake in LA. https://t.co/8JnSN8mh1e

Someone is going to tweet “There is no player as good as McDuffie available at #29”, right?

NY Giants were in the mix
The Trent McDuffie trade came down to the Rams and the Giants, I’m told.
In the end, the Rams were the team willing to give up first-round PLUS.
The Chiefs get a 1, 3, 5 and 6. Really good haul. It’s the equivalent of the 20-21st overall pick … where KC took McDuffie in ’22.

it was this – Giants trade Pick 5 and a 6th for Trent McDuffie and Pick 9

Did Chiefs fleece Rams?
I love Trent McDuffie. Been a fan of his since college and I thought he’d be a pro bowler with the Chiefs before he broke out into one.
But paying him top of the line CB money would’ve crippled the Chiefs flexibility for years. This was the right move

Good lord that’s expensive lmao https://t.co/Z0uzttegLj
— Sosa Kremenjas (@QBsMVP) March 4, 2026
Just as a point of reference: The @Chiefs‘ analytics had the full haul for Trent McDuffie, all four picks, at a value equivalent right around the 20th overall pick. Which is one pick ahead of where he was picked in 2022.

This would be a terrible value trade for the Rams if they weren’t near Super Bowl favorites. It’s a lot of capital for a CB, plus the extension that’ll come with it.
But if it increases their SB odds by 1-2%, then full send. Great content!
— Hayden Winks (@HaydenWinks) March 4, 2026
LAR making a better trade for a top flight CB than Indy did last year and it’s not even close. Trade for Sauce was expensive AF at first glance and now it is even worse. https://t.co/SmXackZkqh
— Derek Brown (@DBro_FFB) March 4, 2026
This is a good trade for both the Rams and the Chiefs imo.
Rams need immediate DB help so they can maximize their window.
Chiefs desperately need picks so they can get cheap talent to offset their cap issues.
Reminds me a bit of the circumstances that led to the Tyreek trade… https://t.co/AgC4oqvmTb

Rams may still be in Maxx Crosby sweepstakes?
Who’s to say the Rams don’t also trade for Maxx Crosby? They have the picks, the money and the means.
— Sterling Bennett🔌💭 (@49ers_Access) March 4, 2026
#Rams are one of teams most connected to Crosby. Now, if they make the deal, the first rounder would be No. 13. That’s likely the highest pick current suitors can offer. #Raiders

I do not expect the Rams getting McDuffie to be the last major trade in the NFC West.
There’s an arms race ongoing. #Seahawks don’t love this draft class and if the right deal presents itself, John Schneider will be ready to pull the trigger.
