Miami Dolphins Players In Final Year Of Deal That You Want Extended

This past week, I posted about the list of players currently on the Miami Dolphins roster who are entering the final year of their contracts in 2026. I then asked the following question:

Which player going into the final season of their contract would you like to see our Miami Dolphins extend beyond 2026, and why? Additionally, which additional players on the list would you like to see the team send packing and why?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

Phoenix6 wants to keep Achane, Brewer, and the ever-controversial Jackson. Wants to see Brents walk.

Which player going into the final season of their contract would you like to see extended & why?

— Achane – great offensive weapon.

— A Jackson – team can’t afford to lose him. But his contract ends before 2027 season.

Brewer – pro bowler; talented athletic; big decision.

— Jordyn Brooks – has shown he deserves an extension. If he plays 2026 like he has the last two seasons, he is going to make good money.

Which additional players on the list would you like to see the team send packing & why?

— Julius Brents – coming off a season-ending injury; unlikely to make it this year.

The Earl wants to keep some of the most obvious candidates, but seems to waver on Brewer based on the possible domino effect.

Achane & Brooks. I would add Brewer, but extending him could prevent them from drafting another OL to replace him and we know that’s simply unacceptable.

Lefty5150 has a trio to keep as well.

Dodson Meyers and Brewer

JUK points out that Jackson might need to take a pay cut to stay in South Florida.

Re Jackson, Sully said this week that he would like Jackson on the team but ‘things need to work themselves out’. That is code for ‘he needs to take a pay cut’, because he is on the team as things stand.

I highly doubt they are adding guaranteed money in future years for a guy they are asking to take a pay cut because he hasn’t been able to stay on the field

Spok507 has his trio, but would still like to see what Jack Jones could give the team.

Achane, Brooks and Brewer for sure. All three are building blocks and this team needs a solid foundation to start this rebuild. I’d also like to see if Jack Jones can do more. He had moments but would need to work on consistency. I don’t think Sanders is a priority. They proved last season they could hire a competent kicker off his couch instead of paying a lot. I’d keep that guy over paying Sanders more.

MIAMI235 gives me the nod for pointing out what I hope we all realize by now. There are more holes to fill than resources to do so at any acceptable level of quality across the board.

A Salute to James, for identifying the possibility of creating more holes to fill !

While this could be the punchline of some marginal joke, the fact exists this could be a noteworthy reality.

Someone, has to play each position well. And they, may already be on our roster!

JUK joins us again with a list of the usual suspects.

Simple. Extend Achane, Brooks and Brewer – all elite, and good teams extend their own guys not overpay for players from elsewhere.

Strongly disagree that Dodson played well – he gets some stats but is a big play machine… for the opposition. We need to upgrade not extend. As for Jackson, the idea of extending a guy who has missed more than half of the last 4 seasons combined is flat out ridiculous.

Well, that’s our comments for this evening. It was a bit slow, but it will hopefully pick back up as we get closer to the beginning of the league year and the draft. There is at least some consensus on which players should be extended beyond this coming season. As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our question of the day.
