Discussion: Will you try to go to the Detroit Lions’ game in Germany?

It’s been a long week of Detroit Lions news. It’s been a long week of Detroit Lions news. Down at the NFL Combine, general manager Brad Holmes, head coach Dan Campbell, offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, and defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard all spoke with the media. In the middle of that, Taylor Decker announced he’s coming back for an 11th NFL season. Then there’s the developing situation with Terrion Arnold.

It’s easy to forget that the Lions also announced this week that they’re playing in Munich, Germany in 2026.

For some, that news comes as a celebration. It’s an opportunity for the Lions to continue to grow their brand globally, and an opportunity to see the Lions live in an exciting part of the world. For others, it’s an inconvenience and (likely) a loss of a game that would otherwise be played in Ford Field.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

Are you planning on going to watch the Lions in Germany live?

My answer: Yes, that is absolutely the plan.

For one, I think it should be a great chance to produce some good content for the site, providing insight into the process of what it’s like for a team to prepare and pull off an international game.

But more selfishly, I want to travel. I’ve only been to Europe once in my life, and I’m eager for the opportunity to go again. Germany seems like an excellent place to start, but I hope my international travel doesn’t end there. If the Lions get a bye week after their Germany game—like most teams get after an international game—I plan on extending my trip in Europe to some surrounding countries and cities.

Either way, it’s a chance to experience another culture and experience the world in a new way.

What are your thoughts on the Lions’ Munich game? Plan on making the trip? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
