The Eagles hired a new offensive line coach and there was a brief period where it looked like they might need to fill a few roster spots, as well. Thankfully, Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson both confirmed they will be back in 2026, which means the team returns all five starters up front — Howie Roseman called RG Tyler Steen a second-year starter during his press run at the NFL Combine.
Philadelphia’s offensive line was hit hard by injuries last season, and with many struggles in the run game, fans perhaps unfairly pointed the finger at the one change up front — Tyler Steen. It wasn’t Steen’s play that hindered the Eagles offense, but that didn’t keep fans hoping for a reunion with Mekhi Becton. Despite his upcoming availability, the team isn’t considering bringing him back, according to NFL Draft analyst Tony Pauline.
“While Eagles fans hoped the team would scoop up Becton, I’m told the interest isn’t mutual from the organization.”
Pauline went on to explain that Becton had a considerable drop off in production in 2025 with the Chargers, and while dealing with the inevitably of being cut just one year into his deal with Los Angeles, Becton has proceeded to fire his agency who helped his career resurgence in 2024.

“During Shrine Bowl week, I was told that Becton has returned to many of his former ways, including firing the agency that helped get his game back on track, and that has raised red flags with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles were surprised (if not shocked) and disappointed by the turn of events.“
The Eagles also don’t have Jeff Stoutland on staff anymore, and the OL coach was a big reason for Becton’s elevated play in 2024.
So, all-in-all, Roseman has set the expectation that free agency wouldn’t likely include big splashes, and not bringing Becton back tracks with their approach to this year’s offseason.
