The Cincinnati Bengals could potentially go in an unanticipated direction and select interior defensive lineman Peter Woods out of Clemson in the first round.
According to Jeremy Rauch, Woods has met with the Bengals and 17 other teams.
And the confident Woods believes he’s a top-ten pick because “I cause offensive coordinators to lose sleep at night.”
Woods’ strengths: According to NFL.com’s Draft profile on him, he is a powerful and explosive athlete with a sturdy base and good lateral quickness. He explodes his hips through initial contact and has good instincts.
And according to Bleacher Report’s Draft profile, Woods is very good at getting off blocks, strong against double teams, quick with good size, and skilled with a nice combination of power and movement that will allow him to develop into a quality pass rusher eventually.
Woods’ weaknesses: Meanwhile, according to his Draft profile on NFL.com, he has short arms, plays lighter, has average twist quickness and short arms, and lacks primary moves to open an edge.
Bleacher Report notes that Woods can improve his pad level at the line of scrimmage and his balance when shedding blocks or getting into the backfield.
