The 2026 free agency period is looming in the NFL, but the path to he 2026 NFL Draft takes center stage this week.
The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine is under way, and while on-field workouts haven’t started yet, incredibly important things are happening. Teams are meeting with prospects, they’re getting medical reports that could be pivotal in setting draft stock, and they’re also talking to each other as well as players’ agents.
A lot is happening this week that will help to set the stage for the 2026 NFL regular season.
But for those of us on the outside who aren’t privvy to everything happening behind the scenes in Indianapolis this week, the workouts are the main attraction.
So this week we want to know: What position group’s workouts do you want to see the most?
We’ve narrowed it down to the positions that are likely to figure most prominently in the New York Giants draft strategy:
- Offensive line
- Wide receivers
- Defensive line and edge
- Linebackers
- Defensive backs
Offensive line will be hugely important for the Giants. Resigning RT Jermaine Elumunor seems like a priority, and the team currently doesn’t have a long-term answer at right guard on the roster. Also, watching enormous humans do ridiculously athletic things is always fun, and under-the-rader players like Iowa center Logan Jones always seem to step into the limelight.
The top of the wide receiver class will likely be determined by the combine, while strong workouts could give the Giants the confidence that they can find a “1b” receiver who can help make their offense a nightmare to defend.
The Giants could certainly use more depth at defensive tackle, and perhaps a starter if they aren’t confident that Darius Alexander can build off of his play at the end of the year. Likewise, edge could figure into their plans if Kayvon Thibodeaux becomes a trade chip.
Linebacker could be a very real need for the Giants if Bobby Okereke becomes a cap casualty. Micah McFadden seems like a likely re-sign after a breakout 2024 season, however that’s only one position, and the team could use long-term answers as well. This is also a deep and talented position with plenty of intriguing players.
Finally, defensive backs always put on a show at the combine. They’re some of the most talented athletes in the world, and this year’s class offers plenty of intrigue at cornerback as well as safety. In particular, we could actually see three safeties drafted in the first round and Oregon’s Dillon Theineman could steal the show.
So, which group are you most interested in watching?
