Howie Roseman says Tyler Steen will be the Eagles’ starting right guard in 2026

Howie Roseman is making the rounds in Indianapolis as the NFL gets ready for the Scouting Combine to get underway. Ahead of the prospects taking the field, head coaches and general managers hold press conferences and speak to numerous media outlets throughout the day. The Eagles’ GM sat down with Rich Eisen on Tuesday and gave some interesting insight into the offensive line.

The group will have a new OL coach in Chris Kuper, but notably, Roseman considers the starters set, including Tyler Steen at right guard.

“We got four Pro Bowl players coming back on our offensive line, which is exciting. We feel like we got some young talent there, as well. Tyler Steen will be in his second year as a starter, and we haven’t hit free agency or the draft.”

Even leading up to the combine, Roseman spoke about how the Eagles have always prioritized depth up front, and that creating layers of talent is important when they approach roster building. Still, as guys become available through free agency — like former Eagles linemen Mekhi Becton and Isaac Seumalo — many speculated Philly would bring in some other veteran talent to compete for Steen’s job. While there will undoubtedly be new additions, Steen’s job doesn’t seem as in doubt as some may have thought.

The offensive line was dealing with injuries, penalties, and inefficiencies, but overall Steen did a good job and wasn’t the reason for the team’s lack of run game or inconsistencies on offense.

This is the first we’ve heard from the Eagles front office including Steen among the group of starters next season. It’s possible things change if the team selects a blocker high in the 2026 NFL Draft if that rookie can play right guard and then shift over to right tackle as Lane Johnson’s replacement in the future. It’s also worth noting that Steen will be a free agent next year. In the meantime, Roseman’s comments bode well for him.
