Kayvon Thibodeaux on the trade block? NY Giants GM Joe Schoen says no

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Since the New York Giants made Abdul Carter the No. 3 selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, analysts and fans alike have been trying to ship Kayvon Thibodeaux off the Giants’ roster. Thibodeaux, who shares the edge position with Carter and Brian Burns, is still a Giant.

Giants’ GM Joe Schoen said on Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine that he wouldn’t mind seeing it stay that way, despite the fact that getting snaps for all three players is not always easy.

“Right now Kayvon’s going to be with us. He played well. He’s going into his fifth year and he’s motivated, and you can’t have enough pass rushers. You really can’t,” Schoen said. “I’m proud of the development and the maturation of Kayvon. He’s come a long way, and expect big things out of him next year with that rotation.”

Schoen said the Giants did receive calls regarding Thibodeaux at the 2025 NFL Trade Deadline.

“Kayvon was probably one of the more popular ones,” Schoen said.

The general manager said he is not shopping Thibodeaux, but will listen if anyone does ask.

“My job as the general manager is if people call and they ask if we’d be interested in trading if we’re interested in their players you take into consideration everything,” Schoen said. “It doesn’t mean we’re going to do it, but we’re always going to listen.”

Thibodeaux was Schoen’s first pick as Giants GM, No. 5 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. The 25-year-old is playing the 2026 season on his fifth-year option, and can be a free agent at the end of the year.

Thibodeaux had 11.5 sacks in 2023, but has had only 12 sacks in his other three seasons combined. He had 2.5 sacks in 10 games last season, missing the final seven games due to a shoulder injury.
