Earlier in the week, a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz indicated that the Miami Dolphins were open to trading star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick this offseason as the team looks to rebuild — or reset — under new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and new head coach Jeff Hafley.
On Friday, NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe added more names to the list of players teams would be calling the Dolphins about in regards to trades ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
During his Wolfe of Ball Street segment on NFL Network, Wolfe had this to say about the potential trade offers Miami could be fielding in short order:
“A lot of rival teams are eager to talk to the Dolphins in Indianapolis to see which players they are willing to trade. This is a team that is resetting towards youth, so of course the Dolphins would love to trade Tua [Tagovailoa]. There’s going to be some difficulty with the money there.”
Wolfe continued, “Teams would love for them to trade Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane. I’m told, right now, they’re wanting to keep those guys as core players. But one name that could create some interest — safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. [A trade] could be mutually beneficial. He’s 29 years old, coming off of a strong year. He can still be an impact starter. He’s set to make $15.6 million dollars in non-guaranteed money. Maybe he could be traded to a team — to a contender — that could need that big boost.”
The NFL Scouting Combine begins on Monday, February 23rd in Indianapolis, so if the Dolphins are open to conversations surrounding trades for any of their veteran players, we should hear whispers in the usual places in that regard very soon.
