Matthew Stafford cracks top-20 all-time QB list

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford will go down as one of the greats whenever he retires from the NFL. How great? Bleacher Report already sees him in the top-20 even before he calls it quits. Just imagine how much higher he could go if Stafford helps the Rams gets back to the Super Bowl or wins another MVP next season.

BR’s NFL Staff pegged Stafford as the No. 20 greatest quarterback ever, the second-highest mark for a Rams’ passer behind Kurt Warner (No. 18):

“Matthew Stafford just keeps adding to what should eventually be a Hall of Fame career. Even if the 38-year-old decides he doesn’t want to continue playing in 2026 and beyond, he’s made a strong case for Canton.

With an elite bag of arm talent, delivery angles and field vision, Stafford has been making highlight-reel throws since he entered the NFL.

Though Stafford didn’t get back to the Super Bowl in 2025, he led the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns while earning his first league MVP. His 64,516 career yards and 423 touchdowns rank sixth and seventh, respectively, on the all-time list.”

Stafford was sandwiched between Hall of Famers Troy Aikman (No. 19) and Warren Moon (No. 21). For years, stemming back to his Detroit days, it seemed almost laughable that the veteran signal caller would enter Canton one day without purchasing a ticket first.

However, the grass has indeed been greener on the other side in Hollywood. After losing his first three playoff appearances with the Lions, Stafford has gone 7-3 with the Rams, winning a Super Bowl in his first season with the team and leading them to two NFC Championship games.

His success in L.A. has never been an accident, given that he always possessed the potential for elite play. All it took was a change of scenery for everyone to finally see him for what he is: an all-time great quarterback. He more than earned his MVP award this season.

This gets asked a lot on here but it’s worth asking again:
