Eagles Question of the Day:

Do you think the Eagles will have a top 10 offensive line next season? Head over to The Feed and weigh in with your answer and explanation!

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …

Jordan Mailata “heartbroken” about Jeff Stoutland leaving the Eagles – PFT

Given that history, it’s no surprise to learn that Stoutland’s decision to step down from his role with the Eagles had a significant impact on Mailata. “Heartbroken. Pretty glad I’m here,” Mailata said to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “This is a welcomed business for me because I haven’t time to think about all that’s going on. I’ve welcomed it with open arms because I can’t think about it. I’ve been crying about it to be honest. Guy’s like my father. It hit me hard. And now I’m just kind of glad the Super Bowl week is keeping me busy so I can deal with that when I get home when I have the time to myself. Yeah, it’s hard. It got me.”

Jeff Stoutland’s departure, coaching staff changes, Super Bowl connections: 8 Eagles Thoughts – The Athletic

It’s difficult to view Stoutland’s departure any other way than a major loss for the Eagles. Stoutland earned his reputation as a venerable offensive line coach, and the success was impossible to argue: 13 seasons, most of which concluded with the Eagles considered among best offensive lines in the NFL; five linemen who earned All-Pro honors a combined 15 times; 27 Pro Bowl invitations, including one every season; three potential Hall of Famers; dozens of lives influenced, with his players earning over hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts during his tenure. Change is inevitable in the NFL. Everybody is renting the space. But the Eagles will miss Stoutland. It also did not help that the ending was abrupt. My understanding is this was Stoutland’s call, but it reached a point at which Stoutland wanted to leave — and announce it on his terms. This was not a choreographed farewell with the organization. And it’s not hard to read into Stoutland announcing it this way as a signal that he was ready to move on following a challenging year for the Eagles’ offensive line and run game, with scheme changes upcoming. The Eagles wanted Stoutland to return. The role was going to be adjusted (more on this in the next item). Given how Stoutland has approached coaching for four decades, one can understand why he’d step away if the situation no longer felt desirable or welcoming enough for him. The personality dynamics that apply to a locker room also apply to a coaching staff, and it’s a shame that such a storied tenure with the Eagles ended in a manner that comes off abrupt, if not messy. It does not change his legacy in Philadelphia, but it leaves lingering questions about the conditions of the exit rather than only the accomplishments of his career.

Is this window of Eagles’ success closing? – BGN

With beloved, and highly respected offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland leaving, with highly respected defensive backs coach Christian Parker leaving to be the defensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys, with many highly attractive possibilities as offensive coordinator turning the Eagles down, with a cracked offensive line, with Lane Johnson contemplating retirement, and the Wild Card-round ouster from the playoffs, are they signs this window of Eagles’ success is about to close? It looks like it. The Eagles finished 11-6 in 2025, winning double-figure games for the fourth-straight season, which is the third time in franchise history the Eagles have done that behind the five-year runs of Andy Reid’s 2000-2004 teams and Buddy Ryan/Rich Kotite’s 1988-1992 teams. What makes this four-year run unique was that it was the most victories that the Eagles had ever won in a four-year span (50)—including two Super Bowls, winning one, over Reid’s 2000-2003 (46) or 2001-2004 (48) teams, or Ryan’s 1988-1991 (41) or 1989-1992 (42) teams. The 2025 season was not aesthetically pleasing.

6) Sick of seeing his offense waste another good defensive season, Jeffrey Lurie moves on from Nick Sirianni.

How Sean Mannion showed ability as an OC before Eagles hired him – NBCSP

The coaching inexperience didn’t show up but what did was Mannion’s readiness for the next step in his career. Those who were around him during this year’s Shrine Bowl came away impressed by his level of organization, attention to detail, capacity to simplify and coach and ability to connect with his players, specifically the quarterbacks on his team. It was just a week at an all-star game designed to evaluate college prospects, but Mannion shined. “He was great,” Louisville quarterback Miller Moss said. “I think obviously the entire week is a pretty unique opportunity, but having him as a coordinator the whole week was awesome. It’s kind of a scramble to install an offense that quickly. But he did a phenomenal job, not only working with the quarterbacks but how he handled the room and how he grew over the course of the week was cool to see. “You get a bunch of different guys from programs all over the country and the jump from Practice 1 to Practice 3 or 4 was pretty significant. And I think that was due to him and his coaching and how he brought the group together.”

Eccentric former Eagle Mack Hollins is perfectly fine if you call him a journeyman: ‘At least I got to do it my way.’ – Inquirer

“I’m totally fine with that [journeyman] label, whatever it is, because I chose wherever I went — outside of getting released from Philly and picked up by Miami,” Hollins said two days after opening night from a riser (and barefoot) — at the Santa Clara Marriott. “Every choice after that I got to pick. And I always was able to pick where I saw value and they saw value in me. And I’ve learned over the years that people that value you, don’t go where the money’s the best or you think the opportunity is the best. “Go where it feels the best. And you only learn what feels the best from trial and error. So, yeah, if I’m a journeyman, so be it. At least I got to do it my way.” Hollins’ way could include bookending his career with Super Bowl victories. He’s one of two players on the otherwise youthful Patriots who have previously won a title — former Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams is the other. (Only former Rams receiver Cooper Kupp has a ring for the opposing Seahawks.)

Ed Callahan is the NFL’s Ultimate Fan of the Year – PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Ed Callahan made his way through the NovaCare Complex and towards Big Dom’s office not expecting a thing. The 79-year-old Eagles fan thought he was coming to the facility for promotional work to help build his case to be named the NFL’s Ultimate Fan of the Year, but little did he know that he was already the winner. Callahan, the 2025 Eagles Fan of the Year, presented by Ticketmaster, beat out the nominees of the 31 other teams. He was dubbed by the league as THE ultimate fan of 2025, as announced publicly at NFL Honors.

Sonny Jurgensen, Hall of Fame quarterback with Washington and Philadelphia, dies at 91 – NFL.com

Sonny Jurgensen, a Hall of Fame quarterback and member of the All-1960s Team, has died at the age of 91, his family announced Friday. Jurgensen was a five-time Pro Bowler and one-time first-team All-Pro over 18 seasons in the NFL, playing for the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington.

It’s Jerry’s World, but our nightmare: Making sense of the Cowboys playoff paralysis – Blogging The Boys

Ironically, the Cowboys have actually been excellent at almost everything except winning in January. Over the last 15 years, they have consistently led the league in drafting quality talent. Since 2010, they have maintained an unreal 63% All-Pro hit rate on first-round picks, the best in the NFL. In 11 of the last 12 seasons, the Cowboys have sent at least five players to the Pro Bowl, far exceeding the league average. They rank second in the league for drafting Pro Bowlers over the last decade, proving their scouting department is essentially a factory for individual accolades. But as a team, the Cowboys are the honor student who turns in all their homework, but for some reason clams up when it comes time to take the final exam.

Bobby Wagner is the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year – Hogs Haven

Bobby Wagner is a future Hall of Famer, and he’s added another accolade to his storied NFL career. It’s Super Bowl Week, and the NFL Honors were tonight. Wagner was the Washington Commanders nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, and he was named this year’s winner. Bobby Wagner lost his mother, Phenia, due to the complications of a stroke when he was a freshman at Utah State in 2009. He launched the Phenia May Fund for stroke awareness and patient support last year, partnering with the Children’s National Hospital.

NY Giants news: Ex-Baltimore Ravens OC added to John Harbaugh’s coaching staff – Big Blue View

The New York Giants are adding a former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator to their staff, after all. Only, it isn’t the one head coach John Harbaugh had anticipated bringing to New Jersey. The Giants will reportedly add Greg Roman to their coaching staff, per Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic. Harbaugh had hoped to add Todd Monken, his coordinator in Baltimore the last three seasons, in that role with the Giants. Monken, though, accepted the Cleveland Browns’ head coaching job. Harbaugh filled that role by hiring former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy.

Green Day’s Super Bowl performance, explained – SB Nation

The NFL is terrified of upsetting the apple cart, but decided to make the bold move to invite Green Day to be one of the performers on Sunday Bowl Sunday. Green Day is headlining the Super Bowl kickoff by being the official opening performance of the game. This will take place before teams enter the stadium, and the three big solo performances take center stage with Lift Every Voice and Sing, America the Beautiful, and the National Anthem being sung inside Levi’s Stadium. The iconic 90’s punk band are a part of the kickoff show, along with LaRussell and Teddy Swims. Green Day should take the stage around 5 p.m. ET. The performance is likely to be televised on Peacock if not traditional NBC. It’s unclear how long their set will be at this time, or which songs the band will perform.

Super Bowl LX: DVOA Preview – FTN Fantasy

I feel like my job with this year’s Super Bowl is to explain to people that both teams are better than they think they are. If the Seahawks lose the Super Bowl, they will become the second-best regular-season team by DVOA to lose in the final game, surpassing the 2023 49ers and sitting only behind the 2007 Patriots. They really have been that good this year. At the same time, the Patriots have been so much better in the last couple of months, with those first couple of games way back in the rearview mirror, that they provide the Seahawks with a very worthy opponent. This is not the Rams and the Patriots after the 2001 season. Yes, the Patriots had a very easy regular-season schedule, but they are not just lucky to be here. The playoff odds simulation equation puts the Seahawks at about 60% chance to win this game, and that sounds accurate to me. That would translate into a three-point spread, a little smaller than the one that we actually see in this game. It’s more likely that the Seahawks finish off their spectacular year with a championship on Sunday night. But there’s definitely a good chance of the Patriots taking home No. 7.
