As the Miami Dolphins look to completely reshape the roster this season, several outside players will be signed with the hopes of competing for a roster spot.
In just a few short weeks, we’ve already seen general manager Jon Eric-Sullivan sign a handful of players to reserve/futures contracts, with the most recent being EDGE Seth Coleman back on January 21st.
Today, Miami’s GM, along with head coach Jeff Hafley, has signed another veteran player to compete for a spot with the new-look Dolphins. Only this time, it’s a player many fans — especially those in the fantasy football community — may have heard of.
According to Elite Loyalty Sports, former 2021 second-round pick (59th Overall) Terrace Marshall Jr. has signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins. The 25-year-old WR was most recently on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad.
The Panthers drafted Marshall in 2021, where he spent three seasons with the team. During his time in Carolina (2021-2023), the former LSU standout appeared in 36 games (16 starts), catching 64 of 110 targets for 767 yards and one touchdown. He would land in Las Vegas with the Raiders for the 2024 season (after a short stint with the San Francisco 49ers), where he caught just 3 passes for 31 yards.
Last year, Marshall Jr. spent the 2025 season on the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad, but hopes he can forge a role in Miami with an offense looking to retool. An offense that, even when they were taking the league by storm in 2022 and 2023, lacked legit size on the outside.
At 6’2, 200 pounds, Marshall brings size and perhaps even a bit more when you consider the snaps that could become available with the inevitable departure of star WR Tyreek Hill, who is returning from a season-ending knee injury, turns 32 on March 1st, and has a cap hit of over $51-million this upcoming season.
That alone leaves a massive hole at wide receiver.
Additionally, Miami’s WR1, Jaylen Waddle, was at the center of trade discussions before the deadline in October. Could a team come calling with an offer NEW GM Jon Eric-Sullivan can’t refuse?
Time will certainly tell, but for now, the Dolphins are doing everything they can to find players who can potentially help the team in 2026. And as someone who once talked highly of guys like Albert Wilson, Preston Williams, Isaiah Ford, and Lynn Bowden Jr… I’m intrigued by Terrace Marshall Jr.
Just as I was when I drafted him in my rookie fantasy leagues — so many years ago….
What are your thoughts on the Dolphins signing Terrace Marshall Jr? Do you think Miami still plans to move on from Tyreek Hill? How do you feel about Malik Washington being Miami’s WR2? Let us know in the comments section below!
