12 former NY Giants who will take part in Super Bowl 60

Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock were not good enough quarterbacks for the New York Giants to build with, but both former Giants backups have done just fine since moving on. DeVito with the New England Patriots and Lock with the Seattle Seahawks will be backup quarterbacks for their respective teams in Sunday’s Super Bowl LX.

DeVito and Lock are among several players, coaches and executives with Giants ties who will be part of the Super Bowl.

New England Patriots

Players

QB Tommy DeVito

DL Cory Durden

WR John Jiles (practice squad)

LB Patrick Johnson (practice squad)

DeVito, a local New Jersey hero who become a cult figure with the Giants, landed in New England after the Giants cut him last summer. He did not take a snap as the No. 3 quarterback for the Patriots in 2025.

The Giants picked up Durden off the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad near the end of the 2024 season. He played in four games, and the Giants waived him last summer when they set their initial 53-man roster. Durden, who had played only eight games over two seasons with the Rams and Giants, played 383 defensive snaps for the Patriots and became a key part of New England’s defensive line rotation.

Jiles was with the team during 2024 training camp. Johnson played in 12 games for New York in 2024.

Coaches

Zak Kuhr (inside linebackers)

Ben McAdoo (senior defensive assistant)

Tom Quinn (assistant special teams)

Kuhr is an amazing story. He was a low-level defensive assistant for the Giants in 2024 after having been an assistant inside linebackers coach for the Tennessee Titans from 2021-2023.

Kuhr was hired as inside linebackers coach by Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. He has ended up serving as defensive play-caller and de facto defensive coordinator as defensive coordinator Terrell Williams has missed the season while being treated for prostate cancer.

I am not sure how McAdoo ended up as a defensive assistant. And, yes, Tom Quinn is in the Super Bowl.

Front office

Ryan Cowden (vice president of player personnel)

Cowden was an advisor to Giants GM Joe Schoen in 2023 and 2024. He had previously worked with Vrabel in Tennessee, and took a job in New England as vice president of player personnel.

Seattle Seahawks

Players

QB Drew Lock

S Julian Love

DT Leonard Williams

G Shane Lemieux (practice squad/injured)

OK, so this is where you can grouse about Schoen having let Love and Williams get away from the Giants. Love made the Pro Bowl in 2023, and has been a three-year starter for Seattle. Williams, completing his 11th season, has 18.0 sacks the past two years. He was a First-Team All-Pro in 2024 and a Second-Team All-Pro this season.

Shane Lemieux is still in the league. Of course, he is injured.
