Jonathan Gannon is a defensive coordinator once again.
The Green Bay Packers are hiring the former Philadelphia Eagles DC to replace Jeff Hafley, who left the Packers to become the new Miami Dolphins head coach.
Gannon was available after being fired by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this month. In three years as a head coach, Gannon went 15-36. Pretty bad!
Gannon is probably a better coordinator than a head coach. But he obviously has flaws as a coordinator, as Eagles fans can attest to. See: his defense’s pathetic outing in the Eagles’ Super Bowl LVII loss.
In that vein, Eagles fans can be glad that another team in their conference hired Gannon. Of course, it remains to be seen if the Birds can field an offense that would be able to take advantage of his defense.
The Eagles and Packers aren’t scheduled to play in 2026 but it’s possible they’ll meet in the playoffs next year. You know, if Green Bay’s offense can carry the weight for Gannon to get there.
