Former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is scheduled to meet with the Buffalo Bills’ front office today regarding the team’s vacant head coaching position, several sources report. Defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver is also scheduled to meet with the Bills on Saturday.

McDaniel, 42, spent four seasons with the Dolphins, finishing with a 35-35 record. During that span, McDaniel’s Dolphins were a disappointing 2-7 vs. the Bills, including a 34-31 playoff loss in 2022. Still, the Dolphins and Bills had some classic matches with McDermott and McDaniel battling it out for the last four seasons. Now, McDaniel is interviewing to be the team’s head coach, quite literally an “if you can’t beat them, join ‘em” situation!

If the Bills decided to go another direction at head coach, McDaniel would then become the Los Angeles Chargers’ offensive coordinator, paired with former first-round pick Justin Herbert. (What could possibly go wrong?!?!)

Along with McDaniel, the Bills are also expected to interview Washington Commanders run-game coordinator Anthony Lynn and former Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.

Weaver, 45, spent two seasons in Miami as the team’s defensive coordinator. Before joining McDaniel’s staff in Miami, he spent time with the Baltimore Ravens (2021-2023), the Houston Texans (2016-2020), the Cleveland Browns (2014-2015), and even the Buffalo Bills back in 2013. (He made the leap to the NFL in 2012 as the New York Jets assistant defensive line coach.)

Besides McDaniel, Weaver, and Lynn, Buffalo will interview Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski on Sunday. One other name added late to the process, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, is former San Diego Chargers QB Phillip Rivers.

Buffalo is leaving no stone unturned in their search for the next playcaller, but it certainly seems like the knee-jerk decision to fire McDermott may come back to bite them in the ***. McDaniel couldn’t get things done in Miami and would undoubtedly have better success with Josh Allen, but is he really the guy to get them over the hump?

I’m doubtful, but it certainly would be #SoDolphins.

What are your thoughts on the Buffalo Bills interviewing Mike McDaniel and Anthony Weaver for their vacant head coach position? Do you think either guy can get Josh Allen and the Bills over the hump? Let us know in the comments section below!
