The Miami Dolphins found the franchise’s next head coach this week — hiring former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to work with new general manager (also from Green Bay), Jon-Eric Sullivan. Now that Miami has their new head-man-in-charge, it’s time for them to fill out the rest of their staff.
On Thursday morning, it was reported by multiple media outlets that the Dolphins have requested to interview Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson for their open offensive coordinator position.
Johnson, a former undrafted quarterback out of Texas A&M University, spent six seasons in the National Football League before transitioning to coaching with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017. He would spend time with the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings in various positions. In February 2023, Johnson joined the Houston Texans as their quarterbacks coach — leading first-year passer, C.J. Stroud, to Rookie of the Year honors.
If hired, Johnson, 37 years old, would be tasked with organizing a Dolphins offense that could be fielding a new quarterback if the team were to move on from Tua Tagovailoa — which has been heavily speculated — and were also to decide that 2025 7th round selection Quinn Ewers was not the man for the job.
We will continue to keep you updated on all things Miami Dolphins as the team continues to fill out their new coaching staff.
