Somehow, Zac Taylor is the only AFC North head coach left standing.
Kevin Stefanski of the Cleveland Browns, John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens, and Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers are all gone.
And while two of those franchises are probably going to find good replacements, there’s always an adjustment period regardless of the caliber of coach you hire.
So the Cincinnati Bengals will face new head coaches in all of their divisional games next year.
They’ll also play another three games with new coaches when they face the Tennessee Titans, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Miami Dolphins.
In other words, an easy schedule just got a whole lot easier. If ever there were a time for the Bengals to prove themselves, it’ll be next year.
Duke Tobin’s unprecedented press conference last week was probably an indication that he and Taylor are feeling the pressure and have been told by ownership to smooth things over with the public.
There’s good reason for that. A team with potential all-time greats in Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase has somehow managed to miss the playoffs three seasons in a row.
Tobin and Taylor might’ve just caught a huge break. Three talented coaches in the AFC North will be replaced. If that isn’t enough to get the Bengals back into the postseason, we might actually see a shakeup in Cincinnati.
