The Philadelphia Eagles are wasting no time building their 2026 roster, and after signing eight players to future contracts on Monday, they are reportedly bringing in a fullback. Former Chiefs RB Carson Steele is expected to sign with the Eagles, according to his agent.
Steele played in 17 games as a rookie for Kansas City in 2024, started three of them, and recorded 183 yards on 56 carries, including 14 first downs. He was slightly involved in the passing game and caught 7-of-11 targets, for an additional 26 yards. In the not great category, Steele also had three fumbles throughout the season. He also briefly contributed on special teams as a kick returner, taking five kicks for 138 yards, with his longest return going for 31 yards.
He’s a promising young player and spent last season on the Chiefs practice squad. Steele makes sense for the Eagles, especially as they’ve tried to utilize a fullback more in recent seasons. They had big plans for Ben VanSumeren in 2025, but the FB tore his ACL on the first play of Week 1, and he’s been out ever since. Bringing in Steele to compete at fullback is a smart move, especially considering the Eagles RB room will return all three players from this season — Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley.
