With everything that has happened since Sunday, it seems like a long time ago that the New York Giants ended their 2025-26 season with a 34-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
Linebacker Bobby Okereke, who had a fumble recovery and an interception leading to 10 New York points, had a lot to do with the victory. On Wednesday, Okereke was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week. That is the first time in his seven-year career he has won that honor.
Okereke, 29, finished the season with 143 tackles, the third-highest total of his career.
Okereke just completed the third year of his four-year, $40 million contract with the Giants. He has no guaranteed money remaining, and could become a 2026 cap casualty as the Giants adjust the roster under whoever their new coach will be.
The Giants could save $9 million against the salary cap while carrying $5.4 million in dead money if they move on from Okereke.
