Malik Nabers looking forward to a full year with Jaxson Dart
New York Giants: Kevin Stefanski. While Stefanski’s final two years in Cleveland were marred by quarterback woes, he’ll have a promising young first-round talent in Jaxson Dart to work with in New York. Dart projects to be far better than any of the seven signal-callers the Browns cycled through since the start of the 2024 season.
Stefanski also brings experience to the table, something many of Big Blue’s coaching hires have lacked following the departure of Tom Coughlin a decade ago. He’s keenly aware of what it takes to shepherd an organization from the league’s basement into the playoffs, memorably hitting the ground running in 2020 with an 11-5 season that still ranks as Cleveland’s best winning percentage since 1994.
This isn’t going to be an easy turnaround, but the Giants have many of the tools needed to find success immediately with the right coach. New York shouldn’t hesitate to capitalize on Stefanski’s availability and bring him in to resuscitate the once-proud franchise.

A head coach with an established track record of success makes a lot of sense for the Giants. General manager Joe Schoen essentially said as much Monday near the end of his postseason press conference.
Schoen was asked how he balances “next hot coordinator” against “retread hire.” And it sure sounds like he would prefer a retread hire like Kevin Stefanski — who the Browns (foolishly?) fired Monday — to another rookie head coach, like Brian Daboll, Joe Judge and Ben McAdoo.
Kevin Stefanski and Jaxson Dart got along well before last year’s NFL Draft. Dart liked the Cleveland Browns’ offensive scheme. Stefanski, then the Browns’ head coach, was intrigued by Dart’s talent and makeup. The Giants knew the Browns had eyes for Dart, which is part of the reason they traded over Cleveland at No. 33 overall to take the quarterback out of Ole Miss in the first round.
“Coach Stefanski is great,” Dart said Monday. “He’s had a really good career, especially from the offensive side of things. I thought the visit with him and his staff went well, and he’s a really good coach.”

At Ole Miss, Dart took great delight in convincing players to come play for the Rebels. Those on the scene in Oxford, Miss., insist he was really, really skilled at it. Dart has a new challenge ahead of him, and he wants to embrace it wholeheartedly. When free agents consider coming to the Giants, Dart wants to be there, showing them the way.
When the time is right, Dart will use his motivational expertise to try to convince others to come to the Giants. “Absolutely,“ he said. “I feel that’s kind of the role of a quarterback, especially if you want to be the best. For myself, I want to be involved in any way that I can and do my part in anything that will be an option. I want to win, so that’s really just my goal.”

“No,” Schoen said firmly. “I always want to win when we go out there… We have a young group of players that need to learn how to win, and to go out and finish the way we did, we can carry that momentum into the offseason.”

New York Giants: QB Jaxson Dart (Round 1, No. 25 Overall). Dart paired with running back Cam Skattebo to bring a new energy to the Giants’ offense. While that was short-lived, with Skattebo suffering a season-ending leg injury in Week 8, Dart remained a big-play threat for the 4-13 Giants.
The Ole Miss product ranked eighth in big-time throw rate (5.2%), and his 38 first-down runs were the fifth most in a regular season for a rookie quarterback over the past 10 years.

5. New York Giants (4-13). Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State*. It should be the Giants’ main objective to get playmakers around quarterback Jaxson Dart. With Malik Nabers recovering from a torn ACL and Wan’Dale Robinson set to become a free agent after a breakout 1,014-yard season, receiver is a major need for New York. Tate is a polished wideout capable of executing every branch on the route tree. He has sure hands, can separate against all types of coverage and makes plays downfield, as evidenced by his 17.1 yards per catch this season (32nd in the FBS). Tate would provide Dart with a true deep threat who can also work the intermediate levels of the field.
