The Miami Dolphins may be in the John Harbaugh sweepstakes — or they may not be. If you’re reading the tea leaves on that one — and Josina Anderson’s social media posts — it seems like Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has been in contact with Harbaugh’s representatives. We will see if that materializes into a Mike McDaniel firing and and an official interview with the former Baltimore Ravens head coach, but in the meantime, a member of the Dolphins organization who is in demand for head coach openings has been requested to interview for the second of such jobs.
Earlier this week, Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver was requested to interview for the head coaching vacancy of the Atlanta Falcons. On Tuesday night, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that the Arizona Cardinals have become the second team to request an interview with Miami’s defensive coaching leader.
According to Fowler, Weaver is scheduled to interview with the Cardinals on Friday and the Falcons on Saturday.
If Weaver were to win either of those jobs, the Miami Dolphins would be in line to receive two 3rd round compensatory draft picks — one in 2026 and one in 2027 — as part of the National Football League’s incentive plan that encourages minority hires for head coaching and general manager positions across the league.
We will continue to keep you updated with all things Miami Dolphins as what appears to be shaping up as another wacky offseason begins to unfurl.
