The Miami Dolphins saw their 2025 NFL season come to an end on Sunday with a loss to the New England Patriots. The team finishes the year with a 7-10 record and more questions than answers as they start their preparations for 2026. While the team is shifting into high gear when it comes to things like their search for a new general manager, the players are cleaning out the locker room and heading into the offseason.
The day after the season gives reporters one last opportunity to talk to players and get an idea of what might be the future for them. The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson provided a brief snippet of a discussion he had with guard Liam Eichenberg, and it is not a good situation for the 2021 second-round pick.
Eichenberg spent the entire 2025 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but no injury was ever disclosed. Jackson’s report indicates it is a serious issue that could be career-threatening.
Jackson wrote on X, “Liam Eichenberg said he sustained [a] leg injurt at [the team] facility during [an] offseason on field session.” He went on to say Eichenberg is hoping the play again but “isn’t certain.” Calling Eichenberg a “nice man” Jackson added that the lineman is “still stuggling” and is “walking in a brace”.
Eichenberg was selected 42nd overall in 2021 out of Notre Dame. He spent time all across the offensive line for Miami, playing tackle, guard, and center in his four seasons. He signed a one-year contract with Miami this offseason. He has played in 60 games in his career, starting 52 of them.
