The Miami Dolphins’ disappointing 2025 campaign ended yesterday with a 38-10 loss to the New England Patriots on the road. While some are still mourning the finality of another less than stellar season, business moves fast in the National Football League.
On Monday, it was reported by various sources that the Atlanta Falcons — who parted ways with former head coach Raheem Morris on Sunday night — have requested an interview with current Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator, Anthony Weaver, to fill their vacant coaching position.
This will not be Weaver’s first time interviewing for the Atlanta Falcons head coaching job, as he did so in January of 2024 before the team ultimately decided to hire Morris for the position. Weaver would go on to take the Dolphins’ job one month later.
Weaver has spent the last two seasons as defensive coordinator of the Dolphins after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant with the Baltimore Ravens. Before landing in Baltimore, Weaver spent one season as the Houston Texans’ defensive coordinator in 2020.
If Atlanta does hire Weaver, the Dolphins will be in line for two compensatory third-round draft selections as part of the league’s effort to incentivize minority hirings for head coaching or general manager jobs.
