The Eagles rested most of their starters on Sunday against the Commanders, which meant a bigger dose of tight end Grant Calcaterra. The TE was responsible for the first Eagles touchdown of the day, but his day ended early when he was on the bad end of a hip-drop tackle that forced him to the sideline and then the locker room. Calcaterra was listed as questionable to return with an ankle/knee injury shortly afterward.
Calcaterra ended his day with two catches on three targets for 21 yards and a touchdown. While he’s not the most-involved offensive player for the Eagles, he does get quite a few reps with the first team and snaps as a run blocker — for a reason no one has been able to figure out, yet.
Hopefully, the TE isn’t looking at a major injury that would keep him out of the playoffs, but if he is sidelined for a bit, that could give Cam Latu an opportunity to make his mark on more than just special teams. The Eagles also have Kylen Granson as an option if Calcaterra is out.
