The greatest right tackle in Cincinnati Bengals history is Willie Anderson.
There is an easy argument that he is the best right tackle in the history of the entire NFL. However, the bias of the left tackle position has kept him out of the Pro Football Hall of Fame for 18 years now. Could the 2026 class finally be the one that sees him get the recognition he deserves?
Anderson was a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro member. What is most impressive is that he was left off of those lists for a majority of his career due to the bias favoring left tackles. He paved the way for the record-breaking rushing performances of Corey Dillon, the aerial passing attack of Carson, Chad, and TJ, and had the longevity to play 13 seasons in the NFL at a high level.
This will be the fifth consecutive year that Willie has been named a finalist for the award. It feels long overdue, but as fans, we know that it will be far from a lock.
The 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame class will be announced during Super Bowl week. A maximum of five players will be selected.
Hopefully, Willie Anderson will finally be one of them.
